Pine Creek Valley.com's Valley Update(3/8/2010):
Here at Pine Creek Valley.com I receive a lot of e-mails asking questions and every once in awhile I get and e-mail that is very helpful. Recently I received an e-mail from
Dave Dowling that I would like to share with everyone.

Dear Pine Creek Valley.com,
My grandfather (Les Dowling) lived in the ranch house and was the caretaker of the Boy Scout grounds for many years at Camp Kline. As a boy my parents would visit a couple of weekends a month and I spent many hours running the fields and mountains in this area. When I was 12 or 13 years old my parents and grandfather allowed me to ride a Honda 50cc motorcycle on the Camp Kline grounds and the only way to get the bike over there was to push this bike across the swinging bridge. Many miles were logged just cruising the many acres of fields.
The swinging bridge was damaged by the flood of 1972 but was still standing. A later high powered wind storm actually destroyed the bridge.
My wife and I are now active bicycle riders on the rail trail that passes through the Camp Kline site.

I recently received an e-mail from a John Kontier and he has a question for everyone. John is wondering, is there anyone out there that would know where he could find a source of history on some of the local mountain roads. Especially, where did the name Bloody Skillet Road originate?
If you have any info that would help out John, please visit our Contact Us page and send us a message. Thank you.
If you have information you would like to share about the Pine Creek Valley area, you too can share your story. Just visit my

Now for the Valley. It is starting to warm up here in the valley and the people are beggining to come back to the area. This past year wasn't the best for the snowmobiles. The snow just kept missing our area. With spring upon us I'd like to take some time to mention a few of the businesses in the area. The
Waterville Tavern is a great place right off of the Pine Creek Rail Trail to stop and have a relaxing beverage or dinner in a friendly, clean atmosphere. Second the newly remodeled,
Happy Acres Restaurant and Wildlife Lounge, located in
Happy Acres Resort, is a sure stop if you have a hungry group. Lastly, as you are taking that well diserved Sunday drive, stop in and visit
Creekside Country the offer many wonderful country gifts.
Make sure to keep checking the
